Enrollment Process and Timelines
There are four areas to the Enrollment Process:
  1. Pre-admission, where families signal an intent to enroll (or re-enroll)
  2. Admission
  3. Enrollment
  4. Registration

Each year, CKMS will establish and make publicly available an Enrollment Timeline. And, each year, families seeking to enroll must submit a completed Letter of Intent to Re-enroll form (returning students) or a Letter of Intent to Enroll (new students) by the deadline set forth in the Enrollment Timeline for enrollment in the subsequent school year.  CKMS will use a variety of means to promote its enrollment process. The Enrollment Timeline, Letters of Intent forms, Lottery Applications and instructions will be posted on the CKMS website by the end of January each year.  CKMS will also use social media, community partnerships, parent newsletters, local newspapers, and other sources to promote the enrollment process. All communication and enrollment material will be available in both English and Spanish in the front office and on our website at www.kivacharter.org.

Pre-admission: Re-Enrollment for Current Students (aka Letter of Intent to Return)
Current students should complete a Letter of Intent form to hold their seat for the next school year. Without a confirmation of enrollment for the following year the student’s spot in CKMS may be relinquished and given to a new student.

Pre-admission: Enrollment for New Students (aka Letter of Intent to start new)
Prospective new students should complete a Letter of Intent form to apply for placement in the next school year.

Admission
Students that have duly submitted Letters of Intent are offered provisional placements or placed on a waitlist, depending on space considerations.  Family confirms acceptance of seat (s). School may collect additional information, e.g. registration packet, diagnostic assessments

Enrollment
With confirmed acceptance of a seat (s) from family, the School enrolls students and schedules a  mandatory Enrollment Meeting to meet the family and tour the school (for new families).

Registration
Families of enrolled students will be sent registration materials that must be submitted by the deadline indicated.

IMPORTANT:  Enrollment, for any student, will not be finalized until the parent/legal guardian has completed and submitted all applicable documents.  Enrollments are, in all cases, subject to limitations imposed by law and requirements of the contract in place with CKMS’ authorizer.
